Labour’s Parliamentary candidate for the Haltemprice and Howden Constituency, which includes BaE System in Brough today called on the Liberal Democrats to come clean after Nick Clegg declared his intent to scrap the Euro Fighter programme if he won the keys to 10 Downing Street.
Danny Marten, 23 said; “Nick Clegg when asked where he intended to save money casually threw the Euro Fighter project into the arena. BaE Systems in Brough is a world leader in every sense of the word and is something we in East Yorkshire are very proud of. Britain has a tradition of leading the world in fighter aircraft technology due to the highly skilled and world-class pool of brainpower and workmanship that we can call on. We demand that the Liberal Democrats clarify what they imagine the future holds for BaE System under their plans.”
On the subject of the deficit, which was a major topic of the final Leaders Debate, Mr Marten said; “People have to be clear when casting their vote on Thursday. The economy is placed in a delicate position. We took the action to save the Banks and we are not prepared to let all that time, effort and money go to waste by prematurely pulling out the Government’s responsible investment. The Tories intend to immediately take £6 billion out of the economy and cuts mean jobs, so when the Tories and the Lib Dems talk “savage cuts” they really mean job losses and all that follows in terms of money lost to the economy and paying out unemployment benefit”.
