Danny Marten on Nick Clegg: We Demand Answers on the Future of BaE Systems at Brough

Labour’s Parliamentary candidate for the Haltemprice and Howden Constituency, which includes BaE System in Brough today called on the Liberal Democrats to come clean after Nick Clegg declared his intent to scrap the Euro Fighter programme if he won the keys to 10 Downing Street.

Danny Marten, 23 said; “Nick Clegg when asked where he intended to save money casually threw the Euro Fighter project into the arena. BaE Systems in Brough is a world leader in every sense of the word and is something we in East Yorkshire are very proud of. Britain has a tradition of leading the world in fighter aircraft technology due to the highly skilled and world-class pool of brainpower and workmanship that we can call on. We demand that the Liberal Democrats clarify what they imagine the future holds for BaE System under their plans.”

On the subject of the deficit, which was a major topic of the final Leaders Debate, Mr Marten said; “People have to be clear when casting their vote on Thursday. The economy is placed in a delicate position. We took the action to save the Banks and we are not prepared to let all that time, effort and money go to waste by prematurely pulling out the Government’s responsible investment. The Tories intend to immediately take £6 billion out of the economy and cuts mean jobs, so when the Tories and the Lib Dems talk  “savage cuts” they really mean job losses and all that follows in terms of money lost to the economy and paying out unemployment benefit”.

  1. An item for your stalls?http://www.eastriding.gov.uk/corp-docs/forwardplanning/html/shlaa2.html this has all the ‘potential’ property development sites. A few things I think need mentioning: Euro fighter parts are not made in BAE Brough however you know that. I would take this story down as Labour cost BAE a multi million pound contract late last year in favour of an American firm. If awarded that contract BAE would have been secure. Crime is down in the area but H&H now has less officers since 97 as all officers are in Hull (labour policy) only 3 officers from Hessle to Howden at night (figures recorded in LATS). The party needs to start going to meetings, far to many mistakes. Lights down in Brough are still unlikely, 2.2 million pound relief road money lost, 20 thousand registered in 1 surgery. 69 primary school children rejected from primaries of choice in ER. Cons are going to squeeze you out a serious overhaul is required.Best of luck especially in 2011, I will be working with Keith Moore on a few issue maybe as the constituencies press officer you would like to be included in a meeting so that I can update you on a few matters and press opportunities.David Dixondaviddixon2005@msn.com
