Dear Liberal Democrats
On Sunday, 59% of your conference delegates voted not to back your leadership’s position on the NHS. We applaud you. After all, only 14% of the UK’s voters want this NHS Bill to succeed, and Lib Dem delegates rightly reflected upon the lack of support this bill has in the medical community. A YouGov poll showed that 66% of medical professionals actually think this bill will damage the NHS. Today in the House of Commons, MPs vote for the last time on the NHS Bill. Opposition parties will be supporting a motion to drop the bill, similar to the motion that your leadership would not let you debate at conference.
We are asking you to pressure your MPs and Peers to uphold democracy and drop this NHS Bill. It was not in anyone’s manifesto, and no one has a mandate to pass these reforms. The NHS Risk Register has been buried and opposition to this NHS Bill in hospitals, conferences and on the streets has been censored. We implore you to contact your MPs and Peers today and ask them not to vote with the Tories to open up 49% of our NHS to private profiteers
