Why You Can’t Trust the Tories With the NHS: Mark Simmonds

pigs-at-the-trough By Will Howley,

Mark Simmonds had his nose in the trough for private health companies. Simmonds recently resigned as Minister at the F.O. because he couldn’t afford to live on £90,000 a year plus allowances of £27,875 and a further £25,000 of public money for his wife.

But he is a Tory, so its hardly a surprise. “……… Until he became a minister, Simmonds, for example, earned a useful £50,000 a year as a strategic adviser to a private health company. He also had other outside earnings………..”

Strategic adviser to Circle Healthcare (social enterprise), 42 Welbeck Street, London W1.

Ceased 4 September 2012 on Ministerial appointment.

June 2012, £12,500 quarterly fee received. Hours: 10 hrs per month.

(Registered 26 July 2012)

5 October 2012, £8,890 received for the period 1 July 2012 to 4 September 2012.
