At a time when our local NHS Trust is under the microscope following a disappointing report from the Care Quality Commission and faces a toxic mix of cuts and accelerating privatisation I would like to pay tribute to the staff in the brand new a Emergency Department as well as the staff on Ward 7. I developed a dangerous clot but thanks to the prompt action by triage in the Emergency Department matters were resolved with a 90 minute operation which was conducted immediately but in a calm and professional way which made me feel safe and well looked after.
Above all there were no credit card or insurance checks involved. If, however Cameron and the coalition sign up to the much heralded Trans Atlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) then our NHS will be consigned to the history books as all public services will by law have to be open to the free market. If we don’t fight for the NHS it will end up like the energy sector; a rip off where profit trumps all.
